Mbuyiseni Ndlozi sorry for ‘giving license to the violent treatment of women’

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has apologised for last week’s tweet where he defended the harassment of a journalist by party members in Cape Town.

EFF members anhandle enca journalist in Cape Town

During the EFF protests at Clicks stores a female eNCA journalist was manhandled by members who refused to speak to the media house.

A video circulating on social media showed Nobesuthu Hejana being pushed around by protesting EFF members.

After the incident, Ndlozi tweeted denying any form of harassment towards the journalist.

On Wednesday Ndlozi retracted, saying the tweet was an “irresponsible tweet, giving license to the violent treatment of women. It was also hurtful and made many who‘ve suffered violence relive this pain”.

The media house and the EFF have had a contentious relationship since the party’s elective conference in December 2019.
