McBride describes charges against him as 'baseless'
Updated | By Samkelo Maseko
Head of police watchdog unit IPID, Robert McBride, says it is not the first time that he is being accused of treason.
Responding to charges laid by Gauteng Hawks boss, Prince Mokotedi, McBride said he is aware of the treason charges laid against him.
He added that those who charged him in 1998 ended up resigning and he predicts the same will happened to Mokotedi.
McBride also said that he was supposed to meet with the Hawks boss, Berning Ntlemeza but that the meeting never took place.
The charges against McBride were laid on Monday night.

Mcbride said Mokotedi should get his facts straight.
"I would like to challenge the complainant in this matter, General Mokotedi, that both of us do a polygraph live on tv at the same time - and we will pay for it," McBride told journalists.
He also said that "the truth" cannot be changed by "smoke and mirrors."
Mcbride denied allegations that he was part of a plot to overthrow President Jacob Zuma, and kill Hawks boss Berning Ntlemeza.
"I believe the charges to be political," he said, adding that he will come out victorious yet again.
