Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo have been warned of severe thunderstorms which are likely to bring hail and lightning on Saturday afternoon.
This is as the South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued a yellow level two alert for both provinces.
Forecaster Venetia Phakula says the thunderstorms, which are expected to last less than an hour, are expected to bring localised flooding.
"In Limpopo it might be over the central parts extending as far as Polokwane.
"There are places where they are happening in Mpumalanga already but the severity of the storms we expect in the afternoon and they might lead to localised flooding especially in low lying areas such as informal settlements and also flooding on the road.

“There is a possibility that we might get hail from these storms, especially large amounts of hail. There might be lightning as well, especially that may bring damage to property.”
Phakula says that the alert has only been issued for Saturday afternoon.
"Once it starts, the storms take between 30 - 40 minutes and thereafter will moderate."
