N1 closed in Centurion for work on power lines
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Motorists are warned of that both sides of the N1 highway will be closed again this weekend – this time between the Samrand and the Old Johannesburg road off ramps in Centurion.
This is to allow for Eskom technicians to continue installing new overhead transmission power lines.
Last weekend, the N1 was completely closed between the M36 Kosmosdal-Samrand interchange and R101 Rooihuiskraal interchange.
Both sides of the highway were closed at 6am this morning and it is expected to remain shut until 6pm.
Sanral says it will then again be closed from 6am tomorrow morning and until 12pm.
The closure is expected to last for at least 30 minutes in intervals.
It will affect traffic in both north and south directions.
Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) spokesperson, Isaac Mahamba confirmed the road closure.
