NCape premier to rescind cabinet reshuffle
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Northern Cape premier Sylvia Lucas will rescind the decision to reshuffle her provincial cabinet.
The reshuffle angered the ANC, who accused Lucas of abusing her office after not consulting with the ruling party.
Lucas reshuffled her cabinet and fired two officials, Finance, Economic Development and Tourism MEC Mac Jack and Transport, Safety and Liaison MEC Pauline Williams, who are seen as her political opponents.
The ANC's Provincial Secretary Deshi Ngxanga says the Provincial Executive Committee has welcomes this decision.
"As the ANC we want to re-emphasize that the ANC is and remains the strategic centre of power and all strategic decisions must be taken in consultation with the ANC," says Ngxanga.
Ngxanga says ANC public representatives serve at the behest of the party and must at all times derive their mandates from the ANC.
"No reshuffling of executives, be it at municipal or provincial level must take place without consultation. This principle applies to everyone deployed in strategic positions and the ANC does not plan to change its position on this matter."
