[PICTURES] Fire in the kitchen of an upmarket hotel

A fire erupted in the kitchen of the luxurious Michael Angelo Hotel in Sandton on Wednesday afternoon.
The spokesperson for Johannesburg Emergency Services, Nana Radebe says they attended to a call that the kitchen was on fire.
"When we got there, parts of the kitchen was on fire, but we managed to extinguish the fire within 10 minutes," Radebe says.

The Nelson Mandela Square undertook emergency evacuation of the premises for the safety of the shoppers, tenants and staff.
Radebe says one person was treated and transported to a hospital for smoke inhalation.
Radebe says no damage has been recorded.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
