Salary increase proposals for the President and his Cabinet
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The Public Servants Association (PSA) has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to decline the proposed salary increases for himself and his Cabinet ministers.

The PSA says the country is in a financial crisis and simply cannot afford the 4% salary increases for members of the judiciary and mayors, amongst others.
This is the proposed salary increases tabled by the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers.
PSA spokesperson Tahir Maepa says the government is technically bankrupt and money is not flowing in as usual.

"We believe that will send a strong message, with the call for us to tighten our belts, to make sure we work hard to turn around the economy," says Maepa.
He adds the government have to lead by example as they are responsible for the collapse of the economy.
"It is the government that messed this economy, it's the government that chased away the possibility of investment, it is the government that is the cheerleader of corruption."
