Police officers and Home Affairs official arrested for smuggling vehicles

Five police officers and one Home Affairs official have been arrested for allegedly being part of a cross boarder vehicle syndicate.
The officers and Home Affairs official are part of a group of nine suspects, with the remaining three believed to be runners.
Police spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke says the suspects are between the ages of 32 and 51.
They were investigated since 2016.

"The nine allegedly arranged fraudulent documents to ensure safe passage for stolen vehicles through the border, in exchange of bribes", says Matimba.
The suspects were arrested in Limpopo and Pretoria.
The five police officers from Tom Burke SAPS, the home affairs official and the three alleged runners are expected to appear in variuous Magistrates' Courts.
