Ramaphosa to pay back the money
The campaign team involved in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s successful bid to be elected African National Congress (ANC) president has vowed to pay back the R500 000 donated by Bosasa.
In a statement, the team sought to distance Ramaphosa from the controversial payment by saying he was not involved in fundraising efforts ahead of the ANC’s national conference in December.
Ramaphosa has been accused of lying, and therefore violating the Constitution, for an answer he gave in the National Assembly.
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane questioned Ramaphosa on the donation by the corruption accused company, with Ramaphosa saying it was payment for consulting services done by his son’s company..

On Friday Ramaphosa wrote to National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete to correct his answer.
Ramaphosa said the money was deposited into the trust fund account of his son Andile Ramaphosa, without his knowledge.
This has led to opposition parties calling for an inquiry into the matter.
In addition to paying back the money, Ramaphosa has indicated that an audit will be done into all funds to make sure everything is above board.
spokesperson Pule Mabe says the ruling party is happy with the way in which Ramaphosa has dealt with the issue.
"What the public should be encouraged of is the transparent ways through which the president is dealing with this."
