Members of the Broadcasting, Electronic, Media & Allied Workers Union (Bemawu) downed tools on Thursday.

Bemawu president Hannes Du Buisson says the strike will continue for as long as the demands of workers have not been met.

"We are meeting with management today to try and resolve the impasse."

Du Buisson says workers are demanding a 10% increase.

The SABC has offered a 0% increase.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says all radio and television programmes continue as normal.

"We appeal to those who are on strike to do so in a dignified manner and not intimidate co-workers. The principal of no work no pay will apply," he points out.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) says it called off its strike due to a legal technicality.

CWU spokesperson Aubrey Tshabalala says its members could still embark on a strike at a later date.
