Shots fired as cash-in-transit robbers strike in Joburg CBD

Police have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects in connection with a cash-in-transit robbery in the Johannesburg CBD.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says the suspects shot and injured two security guards, before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, says she saw the robbery through her office window at Carlton Centre.
The eyewitness says she heard about four to five shots and thought the building was collapsing. She says people were screaming as they were running away from the scene.

"I saw about four men shooting. One was pulling a trolley with money in it. A cash-in-transit truck was parked in the direction the men were shooting," she says.
The eyewitness also claims to have seen the suspects fleeing into another building.
