"We are happy with this arrest, as he was one of those people we have been linking to various cash-in-transits in the country. That information we will only be able to divulge once we finalise all our internalised processes," Mulaudzi says.

The suspect, who has been described as a possible kingpin, was arrested after police swooped on a gang while they were allegedly in the process of planning another cash-in-transit heist.

A subsequent shoot-out between the gang and police officers left one of the other suspects dead.

The suspect appeared in the Delmas Magistrates Court on the charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of fire arms and ammunition, possession of explosives and suspected stolen property.

The case been remanded to August and he remains in custody
