Six nabbed for hijacking truck in Brakpan

Police in Gauteng have arrested six suspects after a logistics truck was hijacked in Kempton Park on Wednesday.

The truck carrying cargo worth R4 million was attacked by ten criminals who jammed the signal of the truck’s tracker.


 


Private security was dispatched, and officers found two suspicious vehicles following the truck.


 


A shootout ensued between the security officers and assailants.


 


“One suspect was wounded during the shootout and was rushed to hospital where he is under police guard,” says police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters.


 


Police cornered a vehicle with four occupants along Springs Road.

“The four occupants were arrested while police recovered two firearms.”


 


A manhunt has been launched for an additional four suspects who fled from the scene in the direction of Wattville.


 


The six suspects will face charges of attempted murder, possession of stolen property, possession of suspected hijacked truck, and contravention of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
