Suspected armed robber shot dead by JMPD on M1

A suspects has been shot and killed during a police shoot-out on the M1 highway at Crown interchange in Johannesburg.
The man was shot dead on Thursday.
Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla says the highway patrol unit pulled over a suspicious looking minibus taxi transporting a group of around 10 people.
"The driver of the vehicle pretend to stop on the left lane and the passenger on the left immediately fired shots at the officers who returned fire. The 10 men came out of the vehicle and fled to nearby bushes. One suspect sustained a fatal gunshot wound.”
Fihla says preliminary investigation suggests that the suspects were going to commit an armed robbery when they intercepted by the police.
Two unlicensed firearms were recovered.
