The inquiry is expected to lay bare the alleged misconduct by Moyane.

Moyane will not be testifying but he’s legal counsel will first convey their grievances to chairperson Advocate Azar Bham in Johannesburg.

According to Moyane’s lawyer, Eric Mabuza, they have rejected President Cyril Ramaphosa’s notion that the hearings should be conducted on paper thus via affidavits.

“We expect the witnesses, including the president, to testify orally so that Mr Moyane will have an opportunity to confront and cross examine them and rebut whatever evidence they might lead,” explains Mabuza.

Moyane also wants an affidavit filed by incumbent Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordan, scrap for what he believes is “improper because he is no longer the Minister of Finance.”

Ramaphosa has already responded to these demands – claiming that the embattled Moyane is doing all he can to divert the disciplinary inquiry and his arguments have no merit.

“We will be able to show tomorrow that the argument by the President is mistaken. It completely misses the point of our objection,” says Mabuza.
