Tshwane warns of water supply interruption in Bronkhorstspruit area
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The City of Tshwane has warned residents in the Bronkhorstspruit area of possible water supply issues due to repairs at the local treatment plant.
The plant has been operating at a low capacity over the past three weeks as a result of equipment failure at raw water pump station and electrical power outages.
The city’s spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says it is not known when the work will be completed.
“Repair work is currently underway, however, delays to complete the work are experienced due to lead time in sourcing some of the spares and materials from suppliers.
“Meanwhile, the plant is also experiencing an electrical fault on the supply side which causes a trip at the raw pumpstation. The plant is currently out of operation. The city’s technicians are busy investigating the fault point on the network with a view to restoring electricity supply and ultimately resume operations."
The city has sent water tankers to the affected areas.
The affected areas include Bronkhorstspruit Town, Bronkhorstbaai, Masada, Cultural Park, Riama Park, Zithobeni, Rethabiseng, Ekangala, Ekundustria and Thembisile Hani Local Municipality.
