Tshwane residents will be without running water during repairs to a major water leak on a pipeline.

The City of Tshwane says the scheduled emergency repairs have had to be postponed.

It was initially scheduled for today.

However, the city says there was still too much water in the reservoir for repairs to be effected.

"The City's plumbers were unable to carry-out the emergency repairs today on a major water leak on the pipeline that feeds into the Meintjieskop reservoir as scheduled, as the reservoir still had significant amount of water for repairs to be done.

"We temporarily shut-down the reservoir yesterday (26 September) at 06h00 with the aim of allowing the reservoir to be completely empty, however, the water level could not drop as expected and is currently sitting at 23%," it says.

Technicians expect the water levels at the reservoir to drop significantly overnight.

"If all goes well and the reservoir is empty by tomorrow morning, 28 September 2017, the repair work will commence at 08:00 till 16:00."

Suburbs which are expected to be affected by the water supply interruptions include Arcadia, Bryntirion, Deernes, Eastclyff, Eastwood, Elandspoort, Lisdogan Park, Pretoria Town, Townlands, Prinshof JRs and Rietfontein.
