TUT mourns death of eMalahleni Campus student

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has expressed sadness following the passing of Thabelo Mbau, a second-year Electrical Engineering student.

Mbau died during an incident involving the South Africa Police Services on Saturday.
TUT spokesperson Phaphama Tshisikhawe says the university is waiting for an official report from the IPID regarding the circumstances that led to the student’s death.
"We thank the IPID for their cooperation with the university. The university is providing the family and friends of the deceased with as much support as we can at this difficult time."
"To honour the memory of the deceased with dignity and to afford the family the space to Inform one another and to digest their great loss. We wish to convey our deepest condolences to the student’s family, friends and fellow students."
