Uber invites metered taxi drivers to make use of its technology

The ride sharing taxi service provider, Uber, has invited metered taxi drivers to make use of its technology.
The company's general manager in Sub-Saharan Africa, Alon Lits, has responded after metered taxi drivers blocked various roads leading into OR Tambo International Airport.
"Uber's technologies are open and it's not exclusive," says Lits.
Metered taxi drivers want Uber to be banned in the country.
"We have been, and we continue to engage with metered taxi operators and we have been doing this for over three years. There are a large number of metered taxi operators already using our technology and we would welcome more operators to join," says Lits.
Metered taxi drivers have previously said they can't comply with Uber's requirements and can't afford to drop to the company's low rates.
