[WATCH] Hartbeespoort dam sluices open following a week of rain

Videos on social media shows the Hartbeespoort dam sluices open and water gushing downstream.
This comes after a week of rain in Gauteng that has caused flooding in parts, but also brought much-needed relief as the country had been battling drought and heatwave conditions.

In November, the Department of Water and Sanitation said the water levels in the Vaal Dam had dropped to new lows.
By early December, the Department as waiting for water from the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) to replenish dropping Vaal Dam levels.
