Zuma recall 'not on ANC NEC agenda'
Updated | By Marius van der Walt
The African National Congress (ANC) says the only item on the agenda of its special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in East London is to consider and adopt the January 8th statement of the party.

The annual statement will be delivered for the first time on Saturday by newly elected ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa, at a mass rally at the ABSA Stadium on Saturday.
The first meeting of the newly constituted NEC comes amid reports that it could discuss President Jacob Zuma's recall.

ANC Secretary-General, Ace Magashule, addressed an impromptu media briefing outside the East London International Convention Centre.
"As you know it's our celebrations of 106 years of the ANC existence and I think we were just meeting to present the January 8 statement. So that all of us are aware of the statement and we engage and debate it and move forward.

"So the purpose and the only item of the agenda was the January 8 statement and preparing for this year."
Magashule said the issue of two centres of power, between ANC president Ramaphosa and President Zuma, is not up for discussion.
"There is no two centres of power. There is only one centre and the centre is the African National Congress. That matter was not for any discussions and debate."
