Their march is one of several taking place across the country.

The opposition changed their route after they initially planned to march to Luthuli House, the ANC's headquarters.

The DA says they have been informed that the South African Police Service will be unable to protect their marchers and ensure their safety from threats of violence from the ANC.

Meanwhile, scores of uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKVA) members have surrounded the Luthuli House "to protect the party".

DA leader Mmusi Maimane says they will do everything they can to get rid of President Zuma.

"It's now time for ANC people to come on board to say you can choose Jacob Zuma or you can choose South Africa and I'm inviting as many of them as possible to say let's choose the people of this country," said Maimane.

Maimane said this march is one of many actions planned by the DA.

"We are going to have many more and they will culminate ultimately in the Union Buildings."
