There's an asteroid headed past earth!

NASA
has reported that an asteroid the size of the Eiffel tower is heading toward earth.

AHHHHH! Time to freak out? Well, no. Although NASA has labelled the asteroid a PHA (Potentially Hazardous Asteroid) because it is going to pass close to earth... on a universal scale.

The asteroid, named 4660 Nereus, will pass by us on December 11th at a distance of 3.9-million kilometers - which is ten times greater than the area between the earth and moon.
NASA terms these “close” encounters, near passes, and these happen quite frequently, so we don’t have much to fear about an impact with Earth.

Once the asteroid passes us it won’t come close to earth until the end of March 2031.
