Mobile bridges, the solution to traffic during road maintenance
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
This could solve all (most) of our traffic problems...
There are people in countries such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Japan who are living in the future—our future and their present—because we can only dream of the forward-thinking they are practising.
We recently saw a self-cleaning paid toilet operating in the Netherlands, and it is a game changer in public restrooms. This toilet could be hailed as the 'World's Cleanest Toilet'.
Now, we have come across a solution to traffic caused by roadworks.
Far too often, South African motorists find themselves stuck in traffic due to delays caused by roadworks or maintenance on busy roads.

A video shared on Unilad's TikTok page (see above) shows the solution to traffic caused by roadworks—the Swiss use a mobile bridge or overpass above the road construction area so that motorists are not disrupted.
The idea blew us away. It is so simple yet so impactful. It sounds like something the 'Paw Patrol' gang might've thought up during one of their saving expeditions, but the fact that it is an actual bridge makes a difference.
"The ASTRA Bridge, developed by the Federal Roads Office of the Swiss government, is a nifty solution that lets you fly over ongoing road repairs on highways instead of taking diversions." (Interesting Engineering)
