Mashaba vows to solve Joburg billing crisis once and for all
Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba says he will personally take charge of the city's billing crisis.
The DA-led administration has not been able to solve the city's billing issues since taking office, but Mashaba has now vowed to roll up his sleeves and find a solution.
Many of the city's residents continue to be either double-billed, incorrectly billed or do not receive any bills at all.
Mashaba says a service provider has been appointed and will provide a full diagnostic report into the billing inaccuracies.
"Either there will be a resolution of the city's billing system or there must be consequences," Mashaba warned.
Acting Joburg mayoral spokesperson Luyanda Mfeka says residents who have been double-billed, even though their accounts were up to date prior to February 2017, will have the amounts reversed.
