Parents at Noordgesig Primary School have rejected the appointment of a new principal, saying the decision "was imposed on them".

The Gauteng Education Department's Steve Mabona says its concerning that yet another school has rejected their choice of principal based on race.

The incident follows Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga's intervention at Klipspruit-West Secondary, where parents were unhappy with the appointment of a black principal.

Mabona says the concerned group at Noordgesig is demanding to speak directly to the head of the department.

"The scheduled meeting on Monday did not take place. The concerned group says their expectation was that they will meet with the HOD or MEC.

"There was however an understanding on Friday where they will table their issues on Monday. They are now demanding to interact with the HOD. We will try to facilitate the meeting for Tuesday afternoon," says Mabona.
